O Amba! You are the bud at the crest of the mountain of the king’s dynasty. Your two eyes extend to your ears. The eyelashes assemble the feathery wings disturbing the tranquility of the worship. The eyelashes look like the arrows of Kamadeva. In the name of being with Shiva, with the name, we call him and he is continuously trying to disturb Shankara. Disturb the consorts for a good cause. Women are internally happy when they disturb their consorts. This is the quality that women have drawn from Ambal. It is the purpose to disturb the tranquility of Shiva. If a woman knows the reason for disturbing the tranquility of their husbands, there is always some reason behind it. We have seen the nine emotions that were expressed by Devi’s glance. Shankara had experienced the nine emotions. In this particular mantra, Shankara is talking about a very important drishti called Shringara drishti. The vision of love is shringara drishti expressed by Amal is an expression of love. To decorate herself to look more beautiful. In the romance of Shankara, there was no lust, he was seeing Soundarya of Devi. The love, Shankara was experiencing was the love for Devi. She wears a lot of Abharanas which do not suffice. The word Shringara is a synonym of love and contributes highly to erotism. The shringara is required to decorate oneself beautifully. Shringara is at its peak when they crave to meet each other. Here shringara drishti is highlighted. One decorates to win someone, here Devi is decked with ornaments for Shiva as the nectar of love for Shiva. It is the essence of love for Shiva. He doesn’t stop there, in this mantra Shankara refers to the dynamic expression of energy that is symbolized in Parvathi. She was the fragrant flower born in the lineage of the dynasty. When she turned her shringara dirshti, Shiva’s tranquility was disturbed. Parvati is the beloved of Shiva and together they represent as mother and father of this creation. The tantric way of worship highlights the shringara decoration of Shakti. There is no spice in life without shringara. No one wants to see a person who is dull. We are all part and parcel of Devi because we have drawn all the qualities of Devi. That is the beauty we need to see in everything. The shringara drishti of Devi extends up to her ears. Shankara is going on to explain his experience to us. The significant aspect of this verse is about the disturbance in the placid mind of Shiva in her eyes which are compared to arrows of Manmatha. Manmatha is the god of lust who creates, infuses the kamana( all desires come under kama). When we refer to manmatha we should not have any reservation to say specifically to sexual desire. Manmatha is that but at the same time, this mantra does not say that Shiva looks into her eyes or She looks into his eyes. We cannot conclude that this verse is indicating the physical attraction in the mind of Shiva at the same time, it talks about Himavantha, Parashakti lineage in the Himalayas. The number of sages meditates. Shankara Bhagavadpada describes the beauty of Parashakti in the lineage of Himavantha. There is a message for Spiritual aspirants—- even the best of sages and sage have been lured by the apsaras, they are the symbolic representation of making one get sexual desire in which they lost the connection with divinity and could only reestablish after a long time. So the act of Manmatha is always powerful and he has the power to enter into a placid mind and it could not be retained for a long time. The normal aspirants like that are affected by Manmatha and the mind has to be strong in pursuing the spiritual path and it should not be out of place. In kaula Marga which is the original of the Srividya Upasana is the highest form of sadhana. What is supposed to be drawn from Patala only can lift him. The lust is taken out of the mind. It is the thought, we have been genetically tuned in our genes, It is believed that lust is for reproduction and pleasure. We need to give a thought that sexual desire is not just lust but bliss too. The moment one thinks about using the private parts of a human being, the thought goes to the only body-to-body touch but not beyond that. It is possible to transform lust into bliss. Is there a possibility of transforming lust into bliss? The mind has to be trained to transform lust into bliss. We have a thought and I am sitting here to concentrate on an object. The nature of the mind is to work on its own thing. Do not sit in meditation having a prior thought. Mind and breath go together. Medical science says that though the entire respiratory system is well, it cannot inhale or exhale unless a particular nerve center gives a command. There is a relationship between breath and mind and focus on breath and stop wondering. When we focus our breath on our minds, it will be easy to concentrate. We need to give our mind what it wants and as result, it merges with that. Subtle information is conveyed that eyes are the most important in conveying that they can attract any other living being. There is communication that is done through eyes. Even repulsion can be seen through the eyes. The eyes can emanate a lot of energy which can have an impact on other living objects. The energy is emerging from the eyes that are why eyes are very important in passing energy between Guru and disciple. Lot of energy is emanated and transforms from Netra dishka. Only the best of gurus can do it. The energy of Guru and the energy of mantra get into the disciple and how powerful the eyes can be. Some gurus do not establish eye contact with everyone. When they do that it means initiation into the spiritual path. The energy is passed on. It is not just eyes but it passes a lot of energy and that itself is initiation. The mantra initiation should lead to the latter into the perfection of the spiritual path. Shringara is not lust or sex. The alankara is called shringara. The women have to do alankara in order to increase their beauty. The tantric view highlights the shringara or decoration, there is no spice in life without shringara. We all are subconsciously attracted to beauty. In all the tantric rituals they use shringara. We thought we call her Paramatman, she generates compassion, anger, kindness. Everyone has received these qualities of her. Shankara Bahagvadpada is talking about shringara drishti eyes, how shringara can create peace. Parabramhan is expressed as SATYAM SHIVAM AND SUNDARAM. Satyam remains the same and does not change with time and space. The one that does not change with time and space and remains the same is PARABRAMHAN. Shiva the pure, what is pure is Parabramhan. What is Beautiful that is Bramhan and all three put together is Bramhan. That is bliss. The experience of all the three is bliss, Sadhaka’s experiences that remain the same is the Bramhan and that is the resultant of the bliss. The target or the lakshya is the same and the goal is the same to experience bliss. Shankara is conveying shringara drishti is the one that is inspiring us to find our way to reach the lakshya to experience the bliss. We prepare our mind to lakshya will sure experience the bliss. The experience of bliss is nothing but the union of Jivaatma and Paramatma. Individual conciousness and energy become one with Universal Conciousness and that is the union of Jivaatma and Paramatma.
In summary, this verse indicates the following: Oh bud on the family crest of Himavan! these eyes of yours, which have approached the proximity of the ear, which bear eyelashes like feathers, which have the defeat of the sentiment of quietism of the mind of Siva as the object, drawn up to the ear, they possess the grace of the arrow of Cupid.
