Maa MahaMaya
One of the functions of puranas is to chronicle the history of the ruling dynasties. Here was the brief account of Surata’s reign. From the first 34 verses, we learnt about the King Suratha and the merchant (Sanskrit word- Vaisya) Samadhi. And it establishes the character of King Surata as a very virtuous ruler and further introduces a merchant called Samadhi. He is also a very good person and righteous man, who also suffered a similar fate. Having suffered betrayal and loss, they join together and enter into the ashram of Rishi Medha. But with all that, they are still stuck in their thoughts of worry for their wife, kids and kingdom accordingly.
also known as “Amba Stuti” – They are introduced as one-verse query from Siva who asks about the means of achieving what is desired, and a one verse response from the Goddess who says she will proclaim the relevant discipline ( sadhana ) by revealing Amba Stuti which consists of the seven verses indicated.
