All the very best wishes on this auspicious day of Chandramana Yugadi, the beginning of the year, Sharvari. The general meaning is Night, darkness, twilight.

Brihat Samhita says that Sharvari is auspicious but it seems the calculation of Samvatsara here is on the Jupiter Transit which will be dealt in a separate article.

50 th verse in chapter 3 of Narada Samhita reads that in Sharvari Samvatsara Plants will grow well and there will be moving and un moving clouds in the sky. That is to say there will be very good rains and no drought situation.

This year is ruled by Mercury as king. Before knowing the results of Mercury being the King, let us know what are places and persons Mercury represents / rules.

Varaha Mihira’s Brihat Samhita Chapter 16, verses 17 to 20 describes it as under:-
He presides over Indus, Sindhu, sarayoo, Ganga, Kaushikee and other rivers. We know all these rivers. Kaushiki is referred in Ramayana said to be taking birth in Himalayas. This sloka refers all the rivers originating from Himalayas. He presides over Comboja, Videha, and eastern part of Mathura, Gomanta, Comboja is Kambodia, Videha is north eastern part of Bihar and Eastern terrain of Nepal. Mathura referred here may not be only city of Mathura but a Kingdom. Gomanta may be the present Goa. He presides over Himalaya and Chitrakoot Mountains.

Mercury also presides over, the people living on Mountains, on surface waters, means sailors, musicians, Mathematicians, gemmologists, painters, Physicians, artists, Infants, poets, Sculptors, messengers.dancers, dancing masters, observers of religious ceremonies ( Should we call them Vaidika & Purohits) & Chemists. During the year the places and class of people Mercury represents thrive well.
He also represents, Jugglers, Rouges, tale bearers, Black Magicians, hermaphrodites, Buffoons, Sorcerers. These social evils also flourish. It is cautioned to be more careful with such class of people around us.
Mercury presides over oil, oil seeds, ghee. Mercury being a benefice planet all these will be available in plenty.

Chandra being Minister, there will be peace and prosperity in the world, we will have good crops and timely rain. Another important portfolio the Finance is held by Jupiter and whatever said and done, the financial situation in spite our present Mahamari striking, we will surely see the financial progress. The same I have said while analysing the result of Solar eclipse as well the transit of Saturn to Makara. By the Grace of my Guru and Guru mandala I stand by my statement.
I am not touching upon other portfolios of the planets as well Graha Latta, Kandaya Phala etc., because it is available in any Panchanga. So also the individual Rasi Phalas because I strongly believe that without a birth chart prediction only on Rasi sign will be only mockery of the Astrology. I wish our learned people should discourage such predictions only on Nakshtra and Rasi. The next question is about those who do not have the birth details. They can surely depend on Prasna Lagna, Aroodha Lagna and may find astrological solutions to the problems.
